Privacy notice

Version 1

Sowcarpet Connect is a directory that helps people find shops in Sowcarpet and George Town, Chennai. This notice explains what information we show, what we keep privately, and how shop owners can change or remove their listing.

What we show to everyone

Business details only: shop name, door number, street, building or complex, what the shop sells, and opening hours when known.

Where listings come from

Many listings were first added from printed trade directories. Owners can confirm and correct their listing at any time, or ask us to remove it.

What we keep privately

• Owner name, mobile and WhatsApp numbers, email and GST number, where available.
• We use these only to confirm who owns a shop and to invite the owner to manage their listing.
• They are never shown on the website or app. If the owner agrees, we add a Call or WhatsApp button that opens the shopper's phone dialer or WhatsApp with the shop's number.

Consent

When an owner claims a listing, they agree to it being shown. The Call and WhatsApp buttons appear only if the owner separately agrees to that. Owners can withdraw consent at any time, and the buttons are removed.

Shoppers who send orders

To send an order list you sign in with your email and give your name and mobile number. We save the order and share it, with your name and number, only with the shop you sent it to (in WhatsApp, in a PDF link and in the shop's seller panel). You can see your orders under My orders. We do not sell your details or send you marketing without asking.

Removing a listing

Open the shop's page and choose "Remove this listing". After we confirm the request, the listing is taken down and the private contact details we hold for it are deleted.

Questions or corrections

Use "Claim this shop" on the shop's page to correct details. Our team will call you on the number you give to confirm.
